The village of Grateley is situated in Southern England in the north-west part of the county of Hampshire. The area is substantially rural and is adjacent to the county border with Wiltshire. It is a small village of some 600 people and is close to many historic and well known sites.

Grateley is principally served by the town of Andover, some eight miles to the north-east, which also is the home of Test Valley Borough Council, responsible for providing local government services.

Thirteen miles to the south-west is the ancient City of Salisbury with its historical connections including the cathedral, which is credited with having the largest spire in England at 404 feet (123m). Some twelve miles to the west is the world famous Stonehenge ancient stone site. Other nearby well known sites include Thruxton Race Circuit and Boscombe Down and Middle Wallop airfields.
