Days 8-9 After breakfast at Green Gables Guest House on Day 8, we had a final look round Revelstoke before embarking on the 640km journey to Vancouver. Because of the trip duration and the generally less than spectacular scenery associated with the northern Rockies route, no photographs were taken that day as we swiftly made our way towards the western coastline. It has to be said the roads were very good and generally met with little traffic on Highway 1.... until the last 30km, which looked more reminiscent of travelling in the UK on a Friday afternoon - cars, cars everywhere and in the end it was a case of out with the map as we took to the back roads, well done Lynn for plotting the route to our final destination.
This may have been an exceptional time on the roads due to the fact that it was 30th June and the following day was 'Canada Day'
Day 9 in Vancouver was spent more leisurely as we first took to the tram for a city tour which took in Stanley Park, Granville Island, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, Chinatown, Gastown and all the Canada Day events being held by the water at Canada Place.
This was a fun time to be visiting the city and again, one of those memorable times when you just let your hair down and went with the flow. There were various groups playing that day at Canada Place, along with food and drink ...marvellous!
In the evening, we wandered into Gastown and found an excellent Italian Restaurant with live jazz music and great atmosphere - simply great time was had that night.
There was more to follow in the coming weeks as we then went on the seven day cruise up the Inside Passage to Seward and then a six day land tour to Denali Park taking in Mount McKinley and Anchorage .... it just kept getting better from hereon.
